MHS Winter Guards Continue Their Success

Congratulations to the MHS Winter Guards for their outstanding success at this past Saturday's NTCA competition at the Thomas Coliseum! The MHS "A" guard won first place in their division and the MHS Varsity guard won second place in their division!

Hey Tiger Band Fans, tonight from 6-8pm is our Whataburger Band Dinner Fundraiser. It's the new Whataburger across and down from Mansfield High. Please make plans to attend.

Next Tuesday, all day, is our Mooyah Dinner fundraiser. I'll send out another reminder next week.

Both of the MHS Winter Guards won 1st place in their divisions this past Saturday at the Martin HS competition! The MHS "A" Guard scored so high they were promoted into the next division! Both guards will be in competition again this Saturday, 1/28, at the Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City.

Transfer request available to Juniors and Seniors and siblings of juniors and seniors taking advantage of the Junior/Senior option. The schedule for our 2012 Winter Guard Season is posted below. All the members and staff have been working very hard in preperation of our competitive season. Our first performance is our annual "Friends and Family Preview" on Sat, Jan 14th at Wester MS. At this performance you can see the Wester Cadet Guard, both MHS Winter Guards, and both Ars Nova Winter Guards give their first public performances of the season. All contest performance times will be posted as they become available. Please come out and cheer the guards on!!

Come out this Saturday and support Mayor Cook and the Red Kettle Drive

Hey Band Students or musically inclined parents, this Saturday from 8am-8pm Mayor David Cook will be heading up the Mansfield effort to Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive in Mansfield. This will be the third year that we have done this in front of the Walmart at Walnut Creek and Saving Place Lane. The Mayor has once again asked for our help. Are there some Band members that could play a song or two. Eihter solo, or in whatever grouping you would like. Maybe there are some musically talented parents, band alumni, or simply talented people. Or, maybe we could sing some Christmas carols. I could even do that if there were enough voices to drown out mine. If you could do something for an hour that would be incredible. You could even just ring the bell or drop by and make a donation. This has become a contest between our Mayor and the Mayor of Arlington, and now includes Pantego, Dalworthington Gardens, and Kennedale. So far, Mayor Cook's efforts have resulted in Mansfield beating Arlington each year since the contest began. Yeah! Please post a reply. I'll put together a schedule and post it so everyone doesn't show up at the same time. Graduating seniors that go above and beyond with this Community Service effort, maybe we could wrangle a reference out of it. The Mayor did recognize and issue a Proclamation to the Tiger Band for last year's efforts at one of the Council meetings last January. Thank you for considering it.
